This video is set during Aeryn’s funeral during Die Me Dichotomy. It basically explores John’s feelings of tremendous guilt and loss after “he” kills Aeryn.

The chase scenes in the beginning were the most difficult technical challenge for me in making this video - It was quite difficult to pace a pretty fast action sequence with the slow music. I used the knife scene from DMD extensively throughout this video. I absolutely love that entire scene – the way John looks at the knife and Aeryn’s lock of hair says so much to me. Visually, the main emotions of that time are captured in this scene.

"I Grieve" lyrics

it was only one hour ago
it was all so different then
there's nothing yet has really sunk in
looks like it always did
this flesh and bone
it's just the way that you would tied in
now there's no-one home

i grieve for you
you leave me
'so hard to move on
still loving what's gone
they say life carries on
carries on and on and on and on

the news that truly shocks is the empty empty page
while the final rattle rocks its empty empty cage
and i can't handle this

i grieve for you
you leave me
let it out and move on
missing what's gone
they say life carries on
they say life carries on and on and on

life carries on
in the people i meet
in everyone that's out on the street
in all the dogs and cats
in the flies and rats
in the rot and the rust
in the ashes and the dust
life carries on and on and on and on
life carries on and on and on

it's just the car that we ride in
a home we reside in
the face that we hide in
the way we are tied in
and life carries on and on and on and on
life carries on and on and on

did I dream this belief?
or did i believe this dream?
now i can find relief
i grieve

WOW, WOW, WOW. I got to tell you, seriously brought tears to my eyes. And it did so the first few times I saw it. You blended the shots perfectly with the song. Simply an amazing job well done. keep up the good work.

Avenue, you've got me looking at your vids while I should be going to bed for work in the morning.

This is amazing!!! Strictly a storyteller, that's what you are. You even have officersun524 posting. Man, are you a fanfic writer for Farscape. You sure seem to be one. So much emotions, so many moods.

You easily slip from a fast, rough, harsh video to one with tears and regret. You, my dear, hear the beat of a song from within. You are like the few here that actually makes these videos come alive to breath and feel.

Thanks for bringing our heroes to life in the music that we love. This is a wonderful testament to your talent.

Thank you, Avenue!!!

Very well matched to the song. A very moving look at this tragic part of Farscape. Excellent timing.

Thank you all for the kind words. I feel the need to comment on the abbreviation of the song since it has been brought up several times. I really did intend this piece to be tragic and the second half of this song really doesn't fit this. Actually, I always skip past the last half of this song when listening to it cause it has just never felt like it fit. (Kind of like the "We are the champions" end to "We will rock you").

I intended this to be a tear-jerker and where I left it, I feel it accomplishes this goal. Initially I planned to end it with a strong, hard "I Greive" and John screaming while strapped to the medical table - this was a key part of my original vision and guided my choice in this song. Unfortunately this song just doesn't conveniently end there, so I made it do just that (allowing a little extra for John's statement at the end, which summarizes the whole mood as well as the knife scene does).

I might consider a sequel using the second half, but I don't think I will do an "extended version." Not sure how to get the end of this song to fit John and Aeryn though, so it may not be the best sequel material.

Wow. Those two episodes just kill me everytime, and this song really emphasized that kind of cold, distant, unreal mindset John must have been in at the time. Ouch. Powerful vid, AoM. Very well done and definitely a tear-jerker. I too would like to see a longer version, but the abbreviation takes nothing away from this video. Thank you for this!

This is just a great video. I love the way you use the "chase" scene in the beginning and set it to a mysterious/moody type of music as opposed to the usual action shots. The song and music capture John's grief so well. Like "Lord Sloth" said, a longer version would be cool but I can see why you stuck with the sadness only.

You caught John's pain so perfectly in this vid--the timing and words were awsomely moving. Thanks for your talent.

God, I love this video. Everything fits so perfectly together.

AP, very powerful. It was a heartbreaker, and the pacing was the culprit. So smooth and right on with the lyrics. Glad to see that "I love you" scene worked in. It's one of my favorites, and not used a lot as focus. Nice job!
Lord Sloth 20th February 2004
Dude, that was just utterly amazing! Definitely a keeper, and I'm very scrutinizing about what videos I decide to keep. To some degree it must have been difficult to go wrong considering the source material; that song and that episode were made for each other. That's not to say there wasn't skillful editing done though, that last "I Grieve" with the last scene of DMD leaves one unable to breath.

I'm a little curious about why the rest of the song was missing. That was a good place to leave it, to be sure, but could it perhaps go on to display that life, in fact, does go on for John. If you think the song gets a bit too cheerful latter on (and I'd agree with that), perhaps you could do an alternate extended version, and we would still have the original sad one. Just a suggestion.

Anyway, great job! Not the very best vid for me, but within the top twenty I think. For the record though, it IS the first video that I've wanted to post a comment about.
