Music by The Wallflowers
I'm generally not known to do John and Aeryn vids. I was watching hockey last season and they play the chorus of this song in commercials for the playoffs. It's something I've wanted to do for quite some time, but I just haven't gotten the muses overly interested in it.
This time I sat and looked at the lyrics and listened to it a couple of times. In this case there were certain lines in the verses that attracted my attention. The "swim" lines made me think of Die, Me Dichotomy. I decided to have the first verse deal with that episode and Season of Death.
From there it was logical to progress into Suns and Lovers. I thought it seemed to work pretty well.
The last verse really seemed to suit Different Destinations. When I first started rewatching this episode I considered doing the entire video to it, but that seemed like it would be too difficult. I think it works well this way as John and Aeryn become a stronger team following hear "death". I decided to use the overlays to show the two of them remembering how they changed history.
I, I wish you could swim Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim Though nothing, nothing will keep us together We can beat them, for ever and ever.
We can be Heroes, just for one day.
I, I will be king And you, you will be queen Though nothing, nothing will drive them away We can be Heroes, just for one day We can be us, just for one day
I, I remember standing, by the wall And the guns, shot above our heads And we kissed, as though nothing could fall And the shame, was on the other side Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be Heroes, just for one day
We can be Heroes We can be Heroes We can be Heroes We can be Heroes Just for one day

| Such an ironic take on heroism. From that first "I wish you could swim" line of Aeryn drowning to all that talk of heroism as the Moyans only make things worse, the music and images combine to remind me that Farscape doesn't go for pat answers or easy story lines. Did you mean to pick the scenes I have the hardest time watching? Or was that just a happy accident? |

LTG,
Marvelous! Wonderful! It was as if I never seen the ep before enjoying the song, lyrics, and the rhythm of the clips. I love the different scenes you've choosen, giving us a cinematic view of our Favorite Show FARSCAPE. And "I wish you could swim," worked perfectly... such good taste you have. "I will be king..." You gotta love him and his queen!
Love the overlapping of scenes in John & Aeryn remembering, standing by the wall. The fiery arrows flying over the wall, the nurses gathered, and John & Aeryn fighting to save them. Alas, they could be heroes for just one day. And they were, but billions, to millions, to thousands, dwindled down to the death of the nurses. What a way to save a world... or was it just for the nurses who weren't? Heroes.
I love this heartbreaking story with so many lives at stake. Beautiful... "I remember..." |

LTG,
Great job on the video. For me you caught the meaning of DD. John and Aeryn tried to do the right and humane thing, but only made matters worse. Thanks so much.
