Description of the video:

A few months ago, I penciled in the week of October 26 for a Vegas vacation. Unfortunately, a while later my Mac died, which meant my Vegas fun money didn't go to casinos, it went to Apple instead. So there I am with a week of vacation, broke and with no where to go. So I decided to spend some of my free time making a video. I was fixin' to remake my Bed of Roses vid, but decided that instead of looking back, it's more fun to push forward. Thus, I present for your enjoyment, "Scorpy Went Down To Georgia" or, "How I Spent My Autumn Vacation".

In a nutshell, this fun little vid chronicles John's "relationship" with Scorpius, starting with their first meeting during 1.19 Nerve and ending with 3.21 Into the Lion's Den, part 2. Obviously, the fiddle playing is a metaphor for wormholes. Compared with the frustrating and tedious experience of making my last fast-paced vid, Smooth Criminals, this vid was fun to make. However, it was a challenge; editing the video to keep up with fiddle music is tougher than I thought it would be.

The song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," released in 1979, went to the top of both Country and Pop charts that year, won a Grammy Award, and is probably the best known of CD's many hits. Charlie Daniels music style is a combination of country/southern-rock/bluegrass/western and his band is still very popular in these parts.

As for the choice of country music for Farscape, this site *is* in Texas; it was only a matter of time! I hope you enjoy watching the vid as much as I enjoyed making it. I'm not trying t be mean but the video didnt go with the song. It was just weird and didnt much make sence. It had nothing to do with a fiddle or gorgia. It was in outerspace for gods sake. The music is country and the video was sci-fi. The only bit i like was being able to hear the song. I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it but im sorry to say to me it was bad. bye xx

I can't believe it!!!! You guys suck. That song was a classic but now u guys come along and turn one of the best songs into some futuristic crap. Were was the fiddle? Were was Georgia? Were was anything having a clue to being anywere close to anything of the that could be a scene from the song?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I've only just seen this classic, and I'm grinning like a mad fool. It's a great concept, but an even better execution: flawless timing, great use of metaphors, and a wonderful design to wrap the whole package in. I am mightily impressed.

honestly, I am flat out stunned. There's a great little animated short film also done to this song and when I saw what song it was, I was actually afraid of messing with my memory of that short, but wow... so perfect. Not just for the editing, but for the underlying themes that you subtly weave through this pushing it far past being a clip assembly into a cohrent, rock-solid work on its own.

OMG I had to show my Texan friend lol because this was just to great NOT TO!!!! This was just wonderfully put together, great rythem you had going, espically with "I told you once you son of a bitch I'm the best that ever been." And that snarl almost that John was giving, to use that and then go into the wormholes was just...you knew what you were going to do and how you were going to put it togther and thats why its so great! until I saw this Vid, LithiumDoll had nosed ahead in my books with My Immortal. But Scorpy went down to Georgia is a real treat.. how refreshing this vid is!! Highly creative.. it makes me laugh at how well the song ties in to the theme.. the name Jonny for one. But your editing skills and attention to detail are excellent Well done keep up the good work. I have to echo Hank's sentiment from the first comment -- I hate you, too :) This vid is brilliant. You know how to use special effects judiciously, when they suit the music and mood and not just to show off your skills. Amazing storytelling. Between this and "Love Over This," I am ruined for other Farscape vids...and I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to do my own vids after seeing ones as good as these!

Fantastic video, inspires me to try one again! Everything's perfect, and I too loved the sepia and shakiness. John and Scorpy are my favourite aspect of the show. Have you heard Primus' cover of this song? Pretty much the same, but more annoying vocals.

Wow. I don't think I have words to describe how much I loved this vid. It's definitely the best vid I've ever seen, and I've seen a few. Great song choice - it's very much a John/Scorpius song, and the clips you chose matched the song perfectly. I've actually been walking around singing the song to myself for days! This is definitely a keeper. I'm never deleting it off my hard drive. Great job!

Wow, wow, wow!! Oh, boy, where to begin. I used to hate this song but man, did you ever do a fantastic job. That last bit of editing on the drumbeat using ITLD was perfection. OMG! Dallas you are a genius. From the fact that it's Johnnie vs. the Devil I knew this song was perfect. I've been eagerly awaiting it's arrival since I saw it on the upcoming vids list. Your vids just keep getting better and better. I love the old timey intros and silent movie placards. The red filter for Scorpy was great. Editing, perfect. What can I say, I have a new favorite video. And the ending with the dropping of the I yensch bracelets, perfect. Bravo! Sorry you didn't get to Vegas, but the Scaper world is richer for it.
