About 4.12 Kansas - In the US, about four months separated this episode from the one that preceded it, 4.11 Unrealized Realities. We were rewarded for our patience with a fascinating and entertaining adventure; a revealing look at Crichton's past. Crichton returns home, his home as it was on Halloween 1985. But "Einstein" warned Crichton in UR that returning to his place of origin before he left in 1999 would result in a unrealized - an alternate - reality. In this version of 1985 Crichton's astronaut father and the inspiration of his scientific journey, Jack, is set to be the captain of the ill-fated Challenger mission in January 1986. Crichton and his Moya friends must work against time to correct the timeline.
About the song - A Day in the Life is the final track on the Beatles' 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Interestingly, the track was initially banned as a single in England due to its alleged references to drug use. Today, the song is highly regarded by Beatles fans as one of the band's best - if somewhat dark - works. This particular rendition has a little history of its own. In 1978 a film version of St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was released with much fanfare. Featuring some of the hottest acts of the day, including the Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Aerosmith, Steve Martin and even George Burns, the movie was one of the biggest flops of the '70s. Unaware of the film's dubious reputation, a certain 12 year old future-scaper in Texas thoroughly enjoyed his vinyl SPLHCB album given to him as a gift, in particular the Bee Gee's version of A Day in the Life. Little did he know 25 years later...

Very well done video about Kansas. The music was a bit slow but, of course, it still went well with this video. Excellent vid. scaperoo |

| WOW, Dallas! Now I know I'm not the only one who actually *liked* the Bee Gees' version of Sgt. Pepper.... and this was one frelling AMAZING video. The dissolve from Crichton to his younger self was a jolt, as was the ending. Thank you so much for posting it! |

| Brilliant!! Dallascaper should be in frelling Hollywood!! Your imagination never ceases to amaze me. And what an ending! I have never heard that version of "A Day in the Life" (one of my favorite Beatles songs) but having grown up being forced to listen to Mom's "Bee Geez" records felt at home. This video should be a 5-Star rating! |

| I always look for dallascaper videos because you set the standard. This one did not disappoint. I loved the introduction using Unrealized Realities. I don't know the jargon of film editing but I really liked the way you joined clips with fades and slight overlapping. The insertion of scenes from Durka Returns and That Old Black Magic were unexpected but appropriate. Flashing the dates from 1985 to 2003 during the crescendo was a fantastic idea and using 'welcome home, son' on the final extended note was a perfect ending. Bravo, and thanks. |
