March
20, 2003 - The update planned for yesterday has been
rescheduled, allowing me time to focus on a pressing
technical issue involving this site. Last April, realizing
that FF must have room to grow, I moved this site to
its own dedicated server. With 50 gigs of hard drive
space and allocated 300 gigs (since increased to 500
gigs) of monthly data transfer, I figured this site
had all the space it would ever need. Well, let's just
say the music videos have been very popular lately.
Starting
on Monday, March 10, which was the day Farscape concluded
its run on the BBC, traffic to this site has spiked
to record levels. High traffic to most fan sites is
greeted with excitement, but heavy traffic can pose
a challenge to multimedia rich sites like this one.
Scapers downloaded from here over 30 gigs of data last
Monday alone, which put enormous strain on my server.
Tired of paying expensive bandwidth overage charges,
I decided to buy another dedicated server, increasing
the site download total to one terabyte (1000 gigabytes)
of monthly transfer. Obviously, Farscape may be ending,
but Farscape Fantasy is still going strong, thanks entirely
to the creative imaginations of Scapers who send me
their art, fiction and videos.
So,
for the next week or so, I'll be busy moving files and
whatnot, which means parts of this site may be temporarily
unavailable. Everything will be up and running by this
time next week. If all goes smoothly you won't notice
any problems with the site at all. Enjoy, and thanks
for visiting Farscape Fantasy.

March
6, 2003 -
Regular
visitors to this site probably have noticed that the
updates here have been a bit thin lately. I have two
reasons for this: First, the great Dallas blizzard of
2003 last week set us back at work and I've been working
every day since the snow. The money is good, but it
leaves little time for this site.
The
little time I do have for Farscape has been devoted
to my new music video, Smooth Criminals. I can't
help it, when I get in the mood to make a video that's
all I can think about until it's done. Frankly, this
vid has been banging around my head for two years and
I want it out. The good news is Smooth Criminals
is almost complete, it's the best one I've made and
I can already tell it's going to knock your socks off.
Prepare to rock, Scaper! The vid is coming March 16.
Regular
updates will resume next week. Until then, ArtemisHi
has a Farscape video for your viewing pleasure...

27, 2003 - Scapers, this weeks bad weather in Dallas (we

11, 2003 - Scapers, my job is going to require much
of my time the next several days, which means the next
major update will not occur until next Monday . However,
the A Constellation of Doubt image gallery will
open Saturday AM as usual.
Regarding
the hit counter, regular visitors to this site may have
noticed that FF went from about 275,000 visitors on
Monday to nearly 351,000 today. No, this site didn't
receive 76,000 visitors in one day, my server would
explode if that happened. I use two "unique visitor"
counters, one that displays a total on the main page
and one built into my server for my private viewing.
The counter on the main page is good because it displays
the total for all to see without me having to learn
Java or whatever. The problem is that it isn't very
accurate, at least compared to my server counter. Over
the past 30 months, the discrepancy between the two
counter totals has grown quite large. I don't feel like
manually adjusting the display counter every day because
I'm lazy. Besides, there is something underhanded about
changing a counter total. But hey, 76,000 is a lot of
missed hits, so I changed the display counter to reflect
this site's true traffic. Thanks for visiting Farscape
Fantasy!
