SAVE FARSCAPE FANTASY; DALLASCAPER FRELLS UP THE SERVER
23 June 2004 @ 8:10 PM
Last
month, I asked help from Scapers in keeping Farscape Fantasy going,
and Scapers responded: We raised over $1600 in eight days for server
expenses. With the site future secure, we are now turning our attention
toward making the site better than ever. LithiumDoll is working
on a new creativity archive, which will be complete soon. Unfortunately,
I changed the server settings yesterday, increasing the site disk
quota from 10 gigs to "unlimited," which frelled up the
data tables. To our luck, LithiumDoll had already backed up the
data, so it's just a matter of undoing the mess I made (not an easy
task) and uploading the data. The music videos and fiction archive
should be back soon.

The

by this site. The archive started less than three years ago, yet
Scapers never cease to amaze with their creativity. I am receiving
more vids from Scapers now than I did when the series was still
new.
In
case you're wondering, this site is currently utilizing less than
10% of its available server space, and less than 20% of it's available
monthly data transfer allocation. In other words, we have plenty
of room to grow. If you're a vidder, keep sending the videos in,

|
Rockne O'Bannon,
Farscape series creator, sent the folks at Watchfarscape.com
a little email
today. Here's what he wrote:
Hi
WatchFarscapers,
A
quick shout out from the fringes of the Uncharteds -- just to say
a loud and sustained Thank You for your continuing passion for and
efforts on behalf of The Little SF Show That Could. As I mentioned
at the Farscape Con in Burbank, David Kemper and I spent last Fall
working on a secret project -- well, the most unsecret of secret
projects. And though I cannot confirm or deny anything, let's just
say that your undying efforts to keep awareness of a certain television
series alive within the entertainment community is the singular
reason why a particular unnamed project is now halfway through production.
On behalf of everyone currently working on -- oops, almost said
it! -- well, on behalf of everybody working on SOMETHING down in
Sydney, Australia, a resounding Thank You. Here's hoping you'll
all be pleased with the fruits of your efforts. Cheers,
Rockne

|
The recent announcement
that Karlsweb,
one of the longtime, great Farscape fan sites is no longer going

is fading away. The fact is that Farscape sites are disappearing,
fan fic authors are fading away, and Farscape is generating less
news today than it did a year ago. However, while our community
may be a bit smaller now compared to a year ago, it's still very
active and it's evolving, much like the Internet itself. More

Scapers
get their show back, but questions remain
|
19
November 2003 @ 12:15 AM
Scapers,
it looks like Farscape will return in 2004 as a four-hour miniseries.
Production is set to begin in December at the Fox Studios in Sydney,
the same place where the series started four years ago. The regular
cast will return to their familiar rolls. However, until Henson
makes its official announcement, questions remain.
-
Who will broadcast the new show? Sci-Fi? Not likely. HBO or Showtime?
Possibly. Syndication? Could be.
- One rumor has it that the mini-series will be a "stand
alone" story, while another describes it as an "epic
conclusion" to the Farscape story. I can see one or the other,
but not both.
-Are there plans to continue the show after the mini-series is
broadcast?
-What impact did Scapers have in saving the show?
Right
now, The Jim Henson Company is finalizing details that will bring
the show back. Once they are ready, hopefully sometime this week,
we will no doubt get answers to our questions. Until then, Scapers
can pat themselves on the back for a job well done: the most amazing
fan campaign
to resurrect a TV show in history.
