Summary: This
is my alternative ending to what happens between John and Aeryn
during the last scene of Dog With Two Bones. John and company have
destroyed Scorpy's wormhole project along with the command carrier.
Rygel, Aeryn, D'Argo have been exhaunterated from their "crimes"
by the PK. Aeryn finished what she "started" with John and is ready
to leave everything behind. This is their good bye.
Thanks: I would
like to give thanks to Dallascaper and Rory Kearn for making the

And also a very special thanks to all of my beta readers who helped
me out and also who have me great suggestions!
Aeryn Sun gazed
around the quarters that she inhabited for the last four cycles
aboard Moya. The memories flooding back in an instant. Shaking the
memories from her mind, Aeryn turned walking out of the room with
her last bag in hand.
Aeryn made
her way down to the docking bay, where her Prowler waited to be
loaded with her possessions. Jool, made her way up to the galley,
and stopped her in the corridor
"Aeryn," Jool
said softly
Aeryn smiled
slightly at Jool. "Yes, Jool?" she asked. Jool moved to stand next
to her.
"I just wanted
to see if the medicine that I gave you helped relieve your sickness."
Jool said as she put her hand on Aeryn's arm. Aeryn stared at the
woman with a look of gratification.
"It worked
fine, Jool. Thank you." Aeryn said with a comforting smile. Jool
took her hand off Aeryn's arm.
"When are you
leaving?" Jool asked as her eyes slid down to the black bag that
Aeryn carried in her left hand.
"Within the
arn." Aeryn replied as she transferred her bag from one hand to
the other. Jool smiled back at her.
"I hope
you have a safe trip," Jool said before heading off to her
destination. Aeryn continued her way to the docking bay. As soon
as she got there, Aeryn moved to her Prowler, climbed the short
ladder, and put her bag into the supply area. She turned around
to get another bag, when John came walking into the docking bay
dressed in his leather PK coat with two bags in hand with him.
Aeryn's heart skipped a beat, shaking her head at an imagine in
her head. This is not right. He looks so much like my John, but
he is not. What is he doing? Aeryn retrieved another bag, when
she turned around John was next to the Prowler.
"I'm going
with you," he said with a determined look in his blue eyes.
Aeryn shook
her head and dropped the bag in her hand. "No, I'm sorry."
John jumped
off the side of the Prowler and stood in front of Aeryn. "Well,
you are not leaving without me."I cannot let her leave without
me. I need her so much. It kills me to have a part of my heart leave.
Aeryn looked
at John with a piercing gaze. "What do you want?" she asked.
"You," he said
with a hopeful look. Aeryn picked up the bag from the floor and
put it into her Prowler. She slowly walked to John, standing before
him. "I'm afraid it's not that easy for me. You see, you died. I
watched the happen, and yet you're still alive. I have to go," Aeryn
said as she turned back to her Prowler. John grabbed her arm so
she would face him.
"Then say goodbye,"
he said. Aeryn ripped her arm from his grasp.
"We don't say
goodbyes," she said as she glared at him with crystal tears coming
to her eyes.
"We do
this time. You see, you leave, and then you come back. I can't handle
the in-between. Aeryn, say goodbye." John said. Please don't
leave Aeryn. I need you so much. There is so much we need together.
I cannot bear to let you go.
Aeryn turned
away from John and headed towards the Prowler. "Fine. Goodbye, Crichton."
John grabs
her arm and pulls her close, they are face to face. "John.
My name is John! 'Good-bye John' to my face," he says with
anger in his voice. Aeryn feels all the anger and frustration that
has been dwelling for sometime surfacing. She pushes John in the
chest.
"Guarantee
you won't die in my arms again!" Aeryn shouts.
John pushes
Aeryn back in her chest. "Guarantee you won't die in mine!" John
shouts back.
Aeryn glared
at him with anger flashing in her blue eyes. "I can, by leaving!"
John groaned
in frustration, yet he knew he had to ask this one last thing of
her. "Do you love John Crichton? Not him, not me...John Crichton,"
he asked looking desperately at Aeryn. I need to know that you
love him, so I know my feelings are not in vain.
Aeryn turned
away from John and faced her Prowler. "Yes," she said
softly as a single tear ran down her cheek. John stood before Aeryn,
bringing his face close to hers. Aeryn moves her face away. I
can just feel for one last microt. The warmth of his lips against
mine. Aeryn stops moving and kisses John for that last time.
John moved
his lips against her soft ones. He pulls back from the kiss and
looked into her eyes. "Then what does that taste like?"
Aeryn tightened
her lips up. How is it supposed to taste? I want the man that
I lost. Yet, you are here and not him. "Yesterday."
John shook
his head in disbelief, yet knowing that this was bound to happen.
He turned away from Aeryn. "Well, nobody can compete with that.
I am so much better dead," he said as he choked on emotion.
Aeryn looked
at John with sadness in her eyes. "I can't do this again,"
she pleaded. John turned to face her again.
"I can't
let the one thing I love fly away in a crappy little ship!"
he yelled as he pointed towards her.
"You once
said it was as if fates meant for us to be together," Aeryn
said calmly, trying not to let her emotions get the better of her.
"And I
believe that," John said.
"Well,
then if it's true we'll be together again." Aeryn said, trying
to give John some hope. There is just so much pain and memories.
I know we shared that one time together, but that was not enough
to release the pain.
"Running
away is not fate, Aeryn. Running away is ...running away. Fine you
want fate?" John says as he pulls out a coin from his leather
coat pocket. "Here, I've got fate. Fate. Here." He holds
up the coin in front of him. Aeryn moves closer to John.
"What?"
she asks looking at him confused. "Coin toss." John explained
as he ran his fingers over the rough surface of the coin.
Aeryn points
to the head of the coin. " What, that side up, you stay?"
John looks
straight into her eyes. " Absolutely. Fate." He tosses
up the coin in the air, but Aeryn catches it.
"Just
make a frelling wormhole and go home," she demands as she throws
the coin at him.
"There
is no home. There is no wormhole. There's only y..." he says
as he covers his face with both of his hands and exhales exasperatedly,
trying to regain calm. "Aeryn, anywhere in the universe. You
pick the planet."
Aeryn looked
at him sadly. "It's too late for that."
"Its not too
late," he challenged back with determination. Aeryn screams in frustration.
"You're not
listening to me. It's too late for me!" she shouts at him.
"You do this
and we'll never see each other again," John says with tears coming
to his eyes.
Aeryn turns
her back on him, facing her Prowler. "Do you love Aeryn Sun?"
"Beyond hope,"
John replied with all the love in the world for her.
"Then
don't make me say goodbye, and don't make me stay," she says
as a single tear slips from her eye. John turns to leave, and Aeryn
begins to kick boxes in frustration. She sits down crying. John
looks back at her. Aeryn raises her head to look at him and gets
up. She takes her foot and pushes the coin to him on the floor.
John picks up the coin and tosses it in the air. Aeryn watches as
the coin flips in the air, while John's eyes look at Aeryn.
********
John stood
looking out at the stars that twinkled like glitter out over the
terrace. He ran his hand through his hair and looked out to Aeryn's
Prowler.
"We are in
the hands of fate now," Aeryn said over the com link from her Prowler.
"We have to trust in that." John continued to stare at the Prowler.
"Good-bye,
John Crichton," Aeryn said. John shook his head.
"We don't say
goodbyes, Aeryn," he said. Aeryn maneuvered her Prowler to her current
tergectory. She glanced back at the terrace and whispered softly,
"I love you, John Crichton.
John heard
her whisper. "I love you, Aeryn Sun." He turned the com
link off. Aeryn's Prowler moved out of view. John made his way over
to the cushion on the terrace. He laid down on it and put a pillow
over his face, breathing in the scent of Aeryn. I can't believe
she is gone. The one thing that I love in this entire universe is
gone forever. A piece of my heart and soul is missing from the rest
of my life. John sat up from the cushion and stared out to the
stars.
********
Aeryn put the
Prowler on autopilot as she sped away from Moya. Tears slid down
her cheeks as she thought about the love she was leaving behind.
I'm sorry, John. I had to leave. It's killing me just being next
to you. I can't explain the time that we shared on the terrace,
but I love you. That can never change. It does not matter which
John you are. I love John Crichton. You will always be apart of
my heart and soul forever. She slid her hand down to her still
flat abdomen. I'm sorry that you might never know your child.
A child that was created out of love, not as a mistake. Aeryn
brushed the tears from her eyes and cradled her hand against her
stomach.
