Summary:
The
crew is out of food and searches for provisions. Zhaan, in particular,
seems on the edge of starvation and she is losing her sanity. Desperate
for food, Chiana takes the crew back to her old stomping grounds-a
dead animal. Actually, it is the carcass of a huge space faring
animal, called a Budong, so large Moya could fit in its mouth. An
entire colony of miners lives inside the dead beast and it is with
them the crew's hopes ride.
Analysis:
Well,
I'm at a loss for words regarding this episode. Frankly, HOTR is
Farscape's most grotesque episode to date and I didn't enjoy watching
it. Yet, I can't help but admire this episode for its edgy style,
sometimes intriguing dialog, and fascinating set design. I'm going
to watch it a few more times before I post a more detailed summary
and analysis. I need to digest this one...sorry. :)
July
11, 2001 update: Sorry it has taken me so long to get back with
you regarding this episode. Just loved HOTR so much that I've been
compelled to watch it exactly 0 times since it premiered in the
US over a year ago. It's one of the few Farscape tapes in my collection
that is still in pristine condition. Oh, I have an idea! If you
have something to say--positive or negative--about HOTR contact
me and I'll post your article as a guest analysis.
