Review:
This episode (in original order of release) comes in the wake of
a very turbulent and dramatic episode, "A Human Reaction". After
such a drama oriented episode, this installment could have been
effectively taken in one of two different paths. On the one hand,
it could have been an intense, action oriented drama to take the
audience on a roller coaster ride of suspense. On the other hand,
it could have been made as a comically oriented EP to lighten things
up a bit for the audience. What is so beautiful about this episode
is that it does both. We have a fast paced, action oriented plot
as Crichton races thought the dimensionally segmented Moya trying
to save the crew and ship before they run out of time, while at
the same time the action has time to stop and give way to a few
hilarious moments of character bantor. Amidst all of the action
and comedy, we also have a great deal of character development mixed
in as clear changes are shown in the relationships between Crichton
and the various members of the crew. Crichton exudes much more confidence
in this episode as he seems to be the one who knows what's going
on and what to do to fix it, and this is perceived by the rest of
the crew who, remarkably, have come to trust Crichton enough to
follow his lead. We also see the beginnings of the development of
the new character, Chiana, as her place in the crew begins to crystallize.
An emotionally satisfying episode, overall, which keeps the audience
on the edge of their seats with both suspense and laughter. (This
is a repost of the review I wrote for this episode when it was shown
during the recent Chain Reaction, with one or two minor revisions).
